The boot shaped peninsula... Italy is surrounded by Tyrrhenian Sea on the west and Adriatic on the east. It has borders to France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. Also it has lots of overseas neighbours such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Sardinia, Corsica, Monaco, Sicily, Algeria and Tunisia. This beautiful country is surrounded with different cultures and as you can guess there is a multicultural tourist population in this country. The Apennine Mountains form the peninsula and the Alps form its northern boundary. There are lots of known lakes but the largest one is called Garda. The principal river Po flows from the Alps on Italy’s western border and continues till Adriatic Sea. The capital and the largest city is Rome. Other largest countries are Milan, Naples, Turin, Palermo, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Bari, Catania and Venice.
The currency is Euro and its national song is Il Canto Degli Italiani.
Italy has Mediterranean dominantly climate. So, you can find it hot and dry in some particular areas during the summer.
Some of the natural resources are coal, mercury, zinc, potash, marble, barite, asbestos, pumice, fluorspar, feldspar, pyrite, natural gas and crude oil reserves.
Beside all these natural resources there are some possible natural hazards which should be mind too. Such as landslides, mudflows, avalanches, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding and land subsidence in Venice.
The historical side of Italy can make you to visit this country more than one because you can not have enough time to visit every single city and historical places in Italy. World’s most important historical places are situated in Italy. For example: Piazza, Vatican City or Venice with gondola. Can you imagine a place with water on the ways and you can only transport with gondolas? It is amazing!
The ethnicity “Italian” differentiates in itself includes small clusters of German, French and Slovene Italians in north and Albanian- Italians and Greek-Italians in the south.
The official language is Italian. German, French and Slovene are other additional languages that can be find in use in some areas. Also another observable thing is different religions growing all around the Italy. For example: predominately Roman Catholic with nature protestant and Jewish communities and a growing Muslim immigrant community
