Bulgaria offers both summer and winter holiday options

Bounded by Romania to the north, by the Black Sea to the east, by Turkey and Greece to the south, and to the west by Macedonia and Serbia & Montenegro; Bulgaria, is a land covered with forests and rivers. This very hospitable and friendly country offers some of the largest european beaches along the Black Sea, whereas the visitor in winter is guaranteed to get these heavy snow falls at mountain ski resorts on the Balkan Mountains, which are some of the finest in Europe.

In summer, several resorts on the Black Sea coast offer a great variety of opportunities for tourists. Among these are Bulgaria’s oldest Black Sea spa, the St. Constantine Resort centered on the Grand Hotel Varna. Named after a famous beauty of Bulgaria, Albena is located on the edge of a beutiful forest, a place with good food and a active nightlife. Also Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, Sunny Day and many others are among these.

Also the Black Sea port-town Burgas has a Maritime Park and large numbers of beaches worth a closer look. Here You can enjoy it from May untill October, while numerous restaurants, cafes, bars and discos, diving and sport centers will be at your service.


In winter, a suggestion would be the Borovets, a World Cup venue. Only a 70km (45 miles) distance to Sofia, in the Rila Mountains at 1350m (4300ft), it is the oldest and bigest mountain resort in Bulgaria. There the 2400m (8000ft) high Yastrebets (Hawk's Nest) waits as a trail for the advanced skier, available from November till April. Many comfortable and well-run hotels provide good accommodation with also a village of timber-framed houses nearby. There are discos, wine bars and folk taverns in the Mousalla.
Pamporovo in the Rhodope Mountains near Plovdiv, Bansko in southwest Bulgaria at the foothills of the Pirin Mountain and Dobrinitshe in the Pirin mountains with its thermal wells are also places lots of people enjoy.
